September 2017 Athlete of the Month

The Athlete of the Month for September is Dan E!
Dan’s one of the Originals – the group of athletes that started on Day 1. He’s low key before and after a workout, but once the clock starts, he’s a machine! You can often find him & his cooler at all of the Tradewinds get-togethers.

Athlete Interview
CFT: Where are you from?
Dan: Bradford, VT

CFT: How long have you been doing Cross Fit?
Dan: Almost 2 years.

CFT: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting Cross Fit?
Dan: Yes, through high school I played basketball, baseball and ran cross country. After high school organized basketball became pickup, baseball became softball and running was on my own with an occasional organized 5k. I tried martial arts for a few years as well.

CFT: What motivated you to try Cross Fit?
Dan: See the answer to the previous question for starters. As I got older, and further away from team sports, I really missed that part of my life. In addition the combination of getting older and not having something competitive wasn’t good for my waistline. I tried a few things but, when I tried Cross Fit I knew this was what I wanted and needed.

CFT: What are your favorite exercises, movements or WODs?
Dan: Dead lifts and burpees.

CFT: What is your proudest accomplishment since joining CFT?
Dan: Over time being able to do more movements unscaled, lift more weight and complete WODs faster as I come to class and put in the work. I still have a long way to go (this marker will keep moving as goals are obtained) but, I have come a long way already as well.

CFT: How has CFT helped you in your everyday life?
Dan: Outside of the gym I like to be outside and active. Hiking, golf, skiing, pretty much any outside activity. All of these things are much more fun the less out of breath I am while doing them and the less sore I am the day after. CFT has made me better at all of my outdoor activities.

CFT: What is your favorite song to workout to?
Dan: Anything really, although 80’s could probably get a little more play in the box?

CFT: Anything else you’d like to share with the rest of your fellow athletes? 
Dan: I can’t say enough good things about my CFT experience. From the great supportive coaching to the team atmosphere of the entire athlete community CFT has been and will continue to be a positive experience in my life.
