Teamwork Makes The Dream Work


Leading an active, healthy lifestyle obviously has its benefits. You feel great, look great, you’re doing things you hadn’t thought possible… this list goes on and on. But it’s a long journey and you learn very quickly that it’s tough to go it alone. For many of us a support system is just as important as eating well and working out. Ask any of our athletes to list the reasons why they keep coming to class, and “the people” “the community” “the support system” will appear all over the list.

“Forging Fitness Through Community.” It’s not just our motto. It’s a truth based on the reality that people are more likely to stick to a regimen if they have the support of friends, and you won’t find a more supportive environment than the Tradewinds fitfam. We’re fellow athletes, teammates, friends.

Speaking of teammates, the Partner Series is coming up this month! Do you have your partner yet?

   Athlete of the Month   

The Athlete of the Month for September is Dan E!
Dan’s one of the Originals – the group of athletes that started on Day 1. He’s low key before and after a workout, but once the clock starts, he’s a machine! You can often find him & his cooler at all of the Tradewinds get-togethers.

CFT: Where are you from? 
Dan: 
Bradford, VT

CFT: How long have you been doing CrossFit? 
Dan:
Almost 2 years. 

CFT: Did you have a fitness background prior to starting Cross Fit?? 
Dan:
Yes, through high school I played basketball, baseball and ran cross
country.  After high school organized basketball became pickup,
baseball became softball and running was on my own with an occasional
organized 5k.  I tried martial arts for a few years as well.

   I Love Winthrop   

I love Winthrop 5K & Festival

Saturday, September 23 | 11am

CrossFit Tradewinds is hosting a 5k Road Race to kick-off the I Love Winthrop Festival & to raise money for our Veterans Food Pantry. 

There are plenty of ways to get involved & show your support & love for Winthrop!

   Coaches Development Program  

Have you ever considered a career in fitness? Do you love helping others? CrossFit Tradewinds is launching a Coaches Development Program for individuals interested in creating a career in fitness.

  Partner Series  

Tradewinds Internal Partner Series

Friday, September 22  & Friday, September 29 | 6:00pm

It’s almost time for the CrossFit Tradewinds Internal Partner Series! The series will be done as partners, either male/female, male/male, or female/female pairs. There will be a scaled & RX options for each workout. CrossFit HQ will release a series of workouts, 3-4 each week, over the course of two weeks. We will host Friday Night Lights events which will allow partners to complete at least one of the released workouts in heats with a  judge. The remaining workouts must be completed during open gym hours on Saturday & Sunday with a judge on hand. Spots are limited, so grab a partner and sign up today!

Saturday, September 16 | 9:00am & 10:00am | Meet at Tradewinds 

Join us on the beach for what will hopefully be a sunny fun workout in the sand. This could be the last one of the season!

Tradewinds Goes Apple Picking

Sunday, September 17 | 1:00pm | Russell Orchards – Ipswich, MA

Join your Tradewinds Community for a fun Sunday afternoon apple picking at the beautiful Russell Orchards in Ipswich, MA. They have a fantastic selection of pick your own apples and other wonderful treats. Definitely worth the trip up along the North Shore.

Tradewinds Surfing 101

Date & Time TBD (based on weather) | Nahant Beach  

Join Tradewinds athlete, Mike Press, as he introduces us all to a one-of-a-kind surfing experience. Due to the nature of, well, Nature, it’s tough to predict when the conditions are right for a good surf session. We’re aiming for a weekend date this month. More info soon, so keep an eye out!

   Elements Graduates   

Say hi to the latest group of Elements graduates! Meet Dan, Sabrina, Latoya, Clairemise and Joel! Congrats on getting through the basics, and we’ll see you in class!
